London is a dirty place, they say. A meatgrinder, that chews people up and spits them out. A bloated corpse whose fetid riverways run with filth. They say a lot of things, cooped up in their theatre box seats or nice clean parlours... but you know they’re wrong. You’ve worked since you were young enough to walk. You’ve laboured in factories, choked on the black smoke of industry, and seen the boot of capital grind the people you cared about into grist for the mill. You’ve walked London’s veins, felt its pulse under your feet and in your hands, and you know just how alive it is.

These bloody toffs wouldn't solve a mystery if it took a piss right on the steps of Hargrave House. What they need is someone who actually knows these streets, and understands the plight of the people in them. What they need is someone who isn't afraid of a little hard work,  or getting their hands dirty in the course of keeping London safe (or at least quiet). What they need is the Unionist.

You’re not the only one, either. You became part of a Union, working together to salve London’s wounds, improving the lives of those it depends on. There were wins… and losses. New friends, and new enemies. Somewhere along the way, you caught the eye of someone at Hargrave House; someone who values your boldness in the face of London’s highest, and your dedication to its lowest. The arrangement is simple. You help deal with London’s less financial horrors… and blind eyes are turned towards the Union.

The Unionist is a complete playbook, accompanied by a dedicated Threat; The Society. Stand up like a man, or get hunted like a dog. It's simple.

[The Unionist is a fanmade playbook designed for use with The Between, written and developed by Jason Cordova and released by The Gauntlet.]
